Wayfarer Speaking Themes
One of the advantages you have when you bring Chad Norris, David Rhodes, or Chris Brooks in to speak at an event is their ability to bring a theme with them. These themes include not only messages but additional resources as well, including art, video, small group questions, and resources.
Here are some of the themes that Wayfarer can bring to your event:
Old School
When we think about going Old School, some of us think of brick schoolhouses. Some of us think of ruling the dodgeball court in elementary school. Some of us think of high school dances. Some of us think of college dorm life. No matter what our memories are, when we look back, we usually remember all of the fun and none of the education. That’s often the way we look at the Old Testament. We heard stories of Moses and David and many others as kids, but we haven’t taken the time to learn from them. However, as we examine these people and their encounters with God in this series, we’ll find that we discover answers to today’s questions in yesterday’s stories.

Dumpster Diving
![]()
Most of us look at a dumpster and see a place to put trash. But some people look at a dumpster and see it as a place to find treasure. These people are dumpster divers – adventurers who believe they can find things of great value in the most unexpected place. Throughout the Bible, we find stories of people who stumbled onto God in the most unexpected places. As we dive into their stories, we will learn more about how we can meet God in our own lives.

Redefining Normal
![]()
What is normal? For many of us, Christianity is comfortable and secure, isolated and based on all the evils we don't do. But what if our norm isn't normal to God? God isn't satisfied for us to settle for "normal" in our lives. He calls us to redefine "normal" as we get to know him better and learn more about his heart. Redefining Normal is an eight-week Bible study that challenges students and young adults to re-examine the norm in both culture and Christianity. Many of us have believed a half-gospel that says Christianity is about what we don't do. The truth is there is much more to following God. God desires us to both celebrate the grace of God and continue to grow in holiness. Through it all, we see God redeeming the world he loves and doing it through us.

Vice Versa
![]()
Why Vice Versa? To be honest, the reason we have written this study is that no one ever presented these concepts to us in this fashion. Sure,we were told to avoid sin, but we were rarely pushed to embrace a new kind of life the life God created us to live, one of freedom, joy, and constant “newness.”Why the title Vice Versa? Because the world is a tough place to follow God, and crossroads that lead either to life as God intends or life that is less than God's best are around every corner. Because often, the way to the best life looks like death at first glance, and the road to death often looks like life at first. Ifwe are left on this journey alone, we will too often travel the wrong road for miles only to discover thatwe are off course or at a dead end. Because too many of us as Christians find ourselves more enslaved to sin than free in Christ, and because the world needs Christians who do more than avoid sin — it needs Christians who discover real life and live it to the full.

Tales of a Wayfarer
![]()
Everyone has a story, but not every story is the same. While some stories follow the same old script, the tales of a wayfarer are full of fear, courage, victory, defeat, temptation, trust, and miracles. These are the tales that leave a legacy, that make a mark on our world. In this series, we’ll journey through Joshua’s story, and in it we’ll see how each of us can write the tale of a wayfarer with our lives as well.

Jack & Jill

Domino Effect
![]()
It all began with one bite from the fruit of one tree. In the choice of a moment, a story of good and evil began. The fallout of that story continues to weave its way through our lives and through our world. We live in this story, but do we really know it? Do we see evil as an unavoidable consequence, a domino effect, or do we see it as the distorted reflection of a choice for life and goodness and redemption? In this series, we’ll fall forward into the story of good and evil and see how God broke in to create a new domino effect of redemption in our world.

Recalled
![]()
There is restlessness in Christianity today, the kind of restlessness that comes from knowing something is wrong but not being sure what that something is. It’s the restlessness someone who bought a new car feels a few months later when the car’s transmission starts malfunctioning and he discovers it has been recalled because of a manufacturing defect. It’s the restlessness someone feels the day after trading a one-of-a-kind Mickey Mantle rookie card for a run-of-the-mill Alex Rodriguez offering. It’s a restlessness that lies just below the surface of all we do and say, yet still affects everything in its reach. It’s a restlessness that suggests a deeper problem – that we are Christians who have missed Christ. At its heart, Christianity is the story of redemption. Simply concentrating on conversion leaves us with a half-gospel, a pseudo-Christianity that cannot compare with the redemption of our God who is in the process of making all things new. But in our quest to be converted, to have assurance, to be right, we have forgotten that God calls us to be redeemed, to have impact, to be good. Thankfully, we are RECALLED to a new kind of life. God is reclaiming the world through his redemptive work, and he wants us to reclaim the story of redemption in our lives and in our world.

The Intersection

When we take on the name Christian, we are making a statement that we want to follow the way of Jesus. But when it comes down to the way we practice and live out our faith, many of us fall into the trap of seeing only part of who He really is. We may lean into His grace, or we may be especially aware of how He exposes sin. We may embrace His invitation to change us, or we may focus on the ways He challenges us. In this series, we’re going to seek the intersections between these aspects of the attitude of Christ so that we can live out not just one section of His calling but the full calling He has placed on our lives.

Snack Pack (especially for kids)

Anyone who has ever been to a lunchroom knows that the first thing you do when you sit down at the table is to see if you need to trade anything out of your bag so that you can improve your eating experience. And anyone who has ever traded lunches knows that one of the most valuable lunch items is the pudding Snack Pack. If you have a Snack Pack, you can trade it for whatever your heart desires – sandwiches, chocolate milk, cookies, chips, and more.
We hope that you’ll find this Snack Pack book even more valuable than one that is filled with pudding. Inside you’ll find bite-sized devotions that will help you spend a few moments with God every day. You’ll think about who God is. You’ll read stories that will help you see how other people have learned to live with God. You’ll look in the Bible to discover more about what life with God is supposed to be like. You’ll spend time each day talking to God. Even thought there’s no pudding, you can expect some great things to happen as you open this Snack Pack. So dig in and enjoy!
